Planets

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I'll be giving a short speech on the topic of "Planets".

Google and Wikipedia offer two slightly varied definitions for the term "planet", both of which are invariably correct.

Google states that a planet is "a celestial body moving in an elliptical orbit round a star." Wikipedia, meanwhile states that it is "a large, rounded astronomical body that is neither a star nor its remnant."

What both these reveal is that planets are large, celestial objects which move around a star i.e., the sun. In addition, NASA also states that a planet "has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape", and "has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit."

In the Universe, there are ~1025 planets that are said to orbit stars! In the Solar System, however, we have 8 planets that we all know of- Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Thank you.

Picnic

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Picnic".

Wikipedia defines the term as follows: "A picnic is a meal taken outdoors as part of an excursion, especially in scenic surroundings, such as a park, lakeside, or other place affording an interesting view, or else in conjunction with a public event such as preceding an open-air theatre performance, and usually in summer."

DeeDee Stovel, the famous author, however, begs to differ. She has, in fact, said, “A picnic is more than eating a meal; it is a pleasurable state of mind.”

Indeed, calling a picnic merely a meal eaten at an aesthetic stop is an understatement. Taking a picnic involves the creation of wonderful memories to cherish with one's loved ones. A picnic, in fact, is a fresh breath of air from reality!

Did you know that we celebrate International Picnic Day on June 18 every year?

Plan your picnic now!

Thank you.

Photography

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Photography."

Wikipedia defines the term "photography" to be "the art, application, and practice of creating durable images by recording light, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film."

In layman's terms, photography is the simple act of clicking a photograph or, as we like to colloquially say, pictures! In the broader sense, photography, as Google aptly points out, also involves "the art or practice of taking and processing photographs" as well.

Broadly, photography can be categorized into 7 broad divisions. They are Portrait Photography, Photojournalism, Fashion Photography, Sports Photography, Still Life Photography, Editorial Photography, and Architectural Photography. Among these, portrait photography is considered to be one of the most popular types of photography across the world.

Today, photography is an upcoming field of work many youngsters are keen to pursue.

Thank you.

Phones Are Distracting Students From Learning

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Phones Are Distracting Students From Learning."

Talking about this subject is a tricky one, especially since we are now living in a time post the Covid-19 Global Pandemic. Learning in itself was dependent on mobile phones for a considerable period of time prior to 2022 owing to the lockdown imposed worldwide!

That being said, in the larger scheme of things, phones indeed are a major distraction to students when learning. Even those the lockdown imposed necessitated virtual learning via mobile phones, it cannot be denied that the very same instrument that was to impart knowledge widely distracted students.

On an average day, keeping one's hands off their phones, be it students or adults, is difficult. It is thus no surprise that students are distracted by the presence of various social media and other entertainment apps present on the phone while learning!

Thank you.

Pets

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of pets.

Google defines the term "pet" to be "a domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure." Pets, in fact, are also commonly known as companion animals.

Statistics prove that about 33% of the people on Earth are pet owners. Surveys also reveal that dogs and cats are considered to be the most owned pets here.

The most commonly owned pets are, in fact, dogs, followed by cats, fish, birds, and guinea pigs. Ferrets can also be seen to be considerably popular. Among birds, Parakeets or Budgies, Cockatiels, Finch, Love Birds, and Doves are common pets. Among fish, Goldfish, Guppy, Corny Catfish, Killifish, and Betta Fish (Siamese Fighting Fish) are widely kept as pets in mini aquariums are several houses.

Some people prefer to have not-so-common pets as well! Some of these include Fennec Foxes, Tarantulas, Degus, Hermit Crabs and even Cockroaches!

Thank you.

Personality Development

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Personality Development."

Wikipedia defines the term to be as follows: "Personality development encompasses the dynamic construction and deconstruction of integrative characteristics that distinguish an individual in terms of interpersonal behavioral traits. Personality development is ever-changing and subject to contextual factors and life-altering experiences."

Simply put, personality development refers to the behavior patterns emerging in an individual's life with time as they grow older and older. It also involves their transforming thoughts and attitudes that will keep shifting over the course of time.

Broadly, personality development can at the very least be classified into 4 different categories. They are average, reserved, self-centered and role model. As we can clearly see, a majority of the people can be seen to be falling under one or the other of these given divisions.

One must strive to develop and improve their personality in a positive way.

Thank you.

Manners Matter

A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Manners Matter".

Google defines the term "manners" to be "a person’s outward bearing or way of behaving towards others." One's manners reflect their social behavior thus.

Why do manners matter? Manners matter because it conveys the respect one has towards their social environment and the people in it. In the civilized society that we all find ourselves to be in today, manners are extremely important in presenting an impeccable image of ourselves.

Keeping in mind the significance of manners, they are seen to be inculcated right from childhood. Basic manners such as saying the "magic words" please and thank you, apologizing upon doing a mistake, basic table manners, knocking on doors before entering, covering one's nose and mouth while sneezing or coughing (which became all the more important during Covid-19!), and being polite are taught. These later transform into etiquettes to be followed in life.

Thank you.
