Earthquake
Good morning! Respected Principal, teachers and my dear companions, I stand before you to speak on the topic of an earthquake. The quaking and trembling of the earth's surface due to the movement of plates is known as an earthquake.
An earthquake is a natural disaster. It is strange but true that most of the earthquakes seem to occur in the winter season. According to scientists, it may be caused by volcanoes and rocks that move within the earth's surface.
An earthquake can be a terrible experience. It comes all of sudden and does not last for too long. It lasts only for a few seconds but that few seconds are enough to terrify anyone mentally, physically as well as socially.
It not only causes fear in people but also causes great damage. If the earthquake is intense, trees get uprooted, there is loss of life, buildings such as houses, schools, and offices can get collapsed. Such disasters create panic among the people because sometimes alive people get buried under the collapsed buildings. This natural calamity leaves many people homeless within seconds.
Some areas of the world are earthquake-prone, regions such as Italy and Japan. It is so because they are situated on the seismic zone. These areas have experienced an earthquake many times. One of the main causes of an earthquake is deforestation.
We live in a country where our government has stood by its citizens during any problem. Welfare organizations, the army, government officers always worked for the welfare of victims by reaching such a place on time.
The victims are provided with food and shelter. Even doctors and nurses help people who get injured during such calamities. We should be thankful to such a government who has always been with us and helped the victims to stand again on their feet after losing everything.
May we always be able to get over earthquakes in future too with the help and support of the people.
Thank you.
Courage
Respected Principal, teachers and my dear friends. A wonderful morning to all of you. Today on this special occasion, I would like to speak some words on the topic- Courage.
If I will ask all of you if you are fearful of anything in life? I am sure the answer will be a yes. We all know that fear is a feature built in every human. We all are fearful of many things in life such as exams, career, future, marriage, challenges of life, etc. And there comes the role of courage.
Courage is a necessity to overcome fear and achieve a desired goal. There is a difference between being fearless or being courageous. Courageous is someone who is not just fearless but also ready to take any kind of risk to achieve what he/she wants.
It takes a lot of courage in life to be able to speak what you want to speak, to do what you want to do and to live a lie of your choice. Winston Chruchill once said, "Courage is what it takes to stand up; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen".
We should never be afraid of what others think of our opinions. But we should also never be afraid to adopt if we find opinions of others right or good for us. Courage is of no use if it makes you stubborn.
Courage also does not mean that taking risk without any precaution. For example, If you want to climb a mountain in severe cold without any guidance, this is not an act of courage. It is an insane act. Or you drive rashly on the road thinking it will not lead to an accident.
There is a need to understand what courage actually is. It is a positive act which helps you achieve your desired goal. For example, it takes courage to sit in a difficult competitive exam.
In the end, I would like to say, be courageous! Thank you for listening to me so patiently.
Farmer
Good morning! Respected principal, teachers and my dear companions, I stand before you to speak on the topic – Farmer.
Farmer is someone who is engaged in agricultural practices. They are the most important people in our society and are also considered as the backbone of society, no individual can imagine life without them. All our daily food requirements are fulfilled by them.
The fresh vegetables and juicy fruits we eat are all because of their hard work. Since the entire population depends upon them still the farmers do not have proper living conditions.
Farmers are far away from all the luxury and comforts of life. There are different types of farmers, some grow crops such as wheat, barley, rice while some are responsible for fruits and vegetables. They are the highest contributor to the Pakistani economy, as more than half of the rural population is in this occupation.
Condition of farmers is critical in some parts of the world because some farmers have their piece of land, while some work on other's land and in that case there are middlemen who do not pay them adequate wages and take a good amount of money from them. Sometimes there is crop failure and farmers can’t bear the loss, all this leads to suicide by the farmers. The government has taken many initiatives for them. The government came up with various privileges by providing loans and reservations to the needy farmers of our country to save the lives of farmers.
Farmer’s life has been affected in many other ways such as coming up with globalization. The wave of globalization has made rich farmers richer and poor farmers poorer. Because of globalization and technological advancement, only rich farmers could afford high-quality seeds and advance technology which would reduce their labor, while the poor farmer could not enjoy these benefits.
Global warming also affects the farmers because crops, fruits or vegetables can be grown in a particular season and delay in the season due to global warming leads to crop failure. We all should take some initiatives to help the farmers of our country. Thank you.
Corruption
I would like to ask a question to my fellow friends. Which practice gave a bad name to our country? Most of you will say, child labour or illiteracy but in my opinion, it is corruption.
Good morning! Respected Principal, teachers and my dear companion. I stand before you to speak on the topic of corruption.
Corruption is a form of dishonesty and immoral behavior or activities. It has spread in our social and political life. It is spreading like cancer and eating our vitals.
Self-serving politicians and their agents can go to any extent to feather their own nest. It exists from top to bottom in our government offices because everyone wants their work to be done on a priority basis. Private gain is one of the reasons behind it.
Our country ranks in the most corrupted ones. We live in a country where bribery is used as a tool to make work done such as paying taxes or issue of licenses.
Due to corruption, many deserving people fail to get desired jobs and admissions in universities and schools as these places are already corrupted by favoritism and nepotism.
This is quite an old and very unfair practice. This has brought instability in society. It is usually practiced by rich citizens of the country.
Corruption is a curse to our society and we should all come forward to remove this curse.
Putting up hidden cameras at workplaces would help in preventing corruption as it will bring fear of being caught among the people. It is a high time to take some steps. Tough and strict laws should be made by the government as it is very important in preventing corruption.
We students can organize anti-curse rallies in areas of our school. Students should talk to their parents to not encourage this evil. So let us join our hands and cut the wings of the third devil. Hopefully, our country can get rid of corruption.
Thank you.
Ragging
Good morning to our Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends. As we all have gathered today to celebrate this occasion, I would like to draw your attention towards an important issue rising these days in many organizations. I would like to speak on the topic- Ragging.
Ragging means abusing, humiliating or harassing the new entrants in a high school, college or any other institutes and organizations. This practice shakes the confidence of new students entering the new organization.
The Supreme court has defined ragging as, "Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities. It causes annoyance, hardship, psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student".
Ragging is banned as sometimes it becomes so severe that it leads to physical injuries and development of fear of psychosis. If any one faces ragging anywhere, he/she should inform the head of the institution in order to control this act. One should not tolerate this violation of human rights.
In the end, I would like to say that I am very happy to be a part of this reputed school where I have never witnessed ragging. Instead, I have always found my seniors as a guiding light and very supportive of anything we want to learn from them. I hope you never face such an unkind act in your life and in case you do, now you know what you should do.
Thank you very much.
