Value of Discipline

Life is no easy-going business. Success here is difficult to achieve. The fact is that no one can succeed in the hard struggle of life without regularity and orderliness. A systematic, planned process counts a lot in the hard struggle of life. Discipline is, in this respect, the most vital matter.

Human efforts can bear fruit only when these are carried on in a disciplined manner. Discipline is a great rule of life. It rules everywhere. Its sway is felt everywhere-from the mysterious world of nature to the daily duty of human life. It has a wide span and spread from the animal world to the astronomical.

The sun, the moon, the stars all are subject to unchanging laws. Discipline means complete obedience to some order or rules. But discipline should not be taken to mean the curtailment of liberty. On the other hand, it implies the exercise of liberty in a proper way.

Discipline is a quality that regulates the conduct of man. It makes him useful and good to himself as well as to his community. Discipline is a great virtue. It blesses him who practices it on all occasions. It is an imperative requirement in one's life. Without discipline, a man appears like a ship a rudder.

The great blessings of discipline are noted well in every field of life. In his study and on his playground, in his office and in his home, man needs to attain success. In his military and academic activities, in his scholarly or professional pursuits, he must have discipline as his unfailing principle.

When the sense of discipline is lost, the army loses its morale. A man without discipline can never play well. Discipline is important in every walk of human life. But its role is the use in academic matters. It is the very fundamental necessity of an educational institution.

No teaching can be of any use, unless the learners re disciplined. When the students throw all the rules and regulations of the institutions to the four winds, the institutions are reduced to the abodes of ruffians and rowdies. In fact, the concept of good education and discipline go hand in hand.

When education is divorced from discipline, it becomes utterly ineffective There is no real development of the learner under these conditions. But when discipline rules, the process of learning becomes easy, entertaining and truly instructive.

On the importance of discipline, there is no second opinion. The lack of discipline always has disastrous results. Man loses his rationality without discipline. He becomes lawless and savage. Without discipline, he becomes a bed judge and rash master. He acts senselessly and errs sadly.

A man remains unfit for any trust until he learns discipline and follows it. But the stamp of indiscipline seems to have been marked permanently on Pakistani life. The basic requirement of a disciplined mode of action is seldom honored here. Liberty often degenerates into license here.

Hooliganism has become a common feature, particularly among a good many Young learners of Pakistan. Unless this dangerous tendency to indiscipline is uprooted from the the national life of Pakistan, there can be no good future for the country.

The Pakistanis must have discipline in every field of activity. Unless they become disciplined, they have no chance of survival. Great things are to be done for the prosperity of Pakistan. But nothing great can come out of violent indiscipline acts.

Nowadays, there is much talk about indiscipline among the youth, particularly among the students. Really speaking, students are not at all the be blamed for their indiscipline. The fact is that politicians are responsible for this evil. They mislead the students. They make them their tools.

Finding their chances of being selected for technical training or for any government job dim, the students become dejected, demoralized and disappointed. Corruption-ridden administration adds to their woes. leader fails them, with the result that the students take to acts of indiscipline.

Students need to be assured of justice, fair play and a better future. Discipline has no alternative. It is needed equally in every sphere, whether inside one’s home or in the open field of action.

The unfailing adherence to discipline is the best staff to cross the stiff cross hurdles of life. Discipline to be the ‘watchword’ in every action- learning, trade and commerce, playing or fighting.

Travelling

Love for travelling is inherent in man. It grows out of his desire to know the unknown and see the unseen. The wander-thirst lies deep in the human heart. And so man has remained ever a traveler.

In ancient times, scholars and students undertook perilous journeys to teach and learn new things. Books were then very rare. Knowledge remained confined to a particular place.

Travelling was naturally essential to learning. People from different countries travelled to Rome and Athens to further the cause of education and knowledge.

Indeed, travelling contains the essential ingredient of true learning. Seeing is believing. Anything learnt about a matter by reading a book can he fully grasped by coming into a direct contact with the same.

Theoretical knowledge is hardly comprehensive. It fails to satisfy an inquisitive student. Travelling alone can supplement what is missing in bookish education. Learning becomes perfect and purposive only when it is tempered with travelling.

Travelling is, indeed, a great educator. The social, political, economic or geographical condition of a country is best learnt by paying a visit to that country. By bringing him in contact with new lands, new people and new systems, travelling immensely educate and develops the mind of a man. No book could have taught to him so many things in so clear a way.

Travelling is the most perfect teacher of history. It opens before one a new vista of the glorious reality of the past. Travelling revitalizes the memory of the old thing and makes the study of history truly enjoyable.

Again, travelling broadens mind and frees it from narrow and parochial views. Its sociological training is of great importance. No nation can now live in isolation. In a shrinking world of today, all people must learn to co-operate and co-exist.

A close understanding between different nations of the world is necessary. Travelling can render here great service and bring different races and nations closer.

Travelling should never be taken as a mere pastime. It is an index haustible fountain of knowledge and wisdom. It acts ever as a bright lamp of knowledge. This lamp of knowledge tears away the veil of darkness. It fosters human understanding.

It blesses human life with vitality and liberal- ty It is a mighty educator of character and builds the same. Its educative value is of great significance at all times and in all countries. It makes the process of education pleasing, and not painful.

Isolation retards progress whereas intercourse quickens it. The spirit Of cooperation which humanity needs so badly for the promotion of peace And progress cannot exist if we do not have rapport and intercourses with the people of other countries.

We need to do away with the ill-founded fetters of conservatism for promoting a feeling of international brotherhood. This can be made possible if we take to travelling across the country as well as outside the country. One’s outlook gets broadened and one’s Knowledge gets enriched through travelling.

Qualities of a Good Citizen

A citizen belongs to the state. Citizenship does not indicate a mere residence in a particular state. As a member of the state, he or she has certain rights and duties. Only good citizens can make a state great. He enjoys rights and privileges and he or she is expected to contribute his or her bit in making the society as well as the country progress on healthy lines.

A citizen enjoys liberty in a democratic state. He or she is free to take up any job or profession. He or she has the right to vote. The citizens can elect a government of their choice. The citizens have a right to property, right to worship, right to seek justice, right to write or express thoughts, etc.

In the near future, they may also get the right to information and right to work. But all these rights may prove useless or even harmful if these are not exercised judiciously. After all, liberty cannot be converted into license.

One is supposed to enjoy liberty or freedom in such a way that one’s actions or utterances do not interfere with the liberty of others. While making use of one’s rights and liberty, one must be conscious of one’s duties and responsibilities.

The prime duty of a citizen is to become a good, conscious, dutiful and responsible citizen. A person must have certain qualities in order to good citizen. Only good citizens can ensure a bright future for their country.

Good citizens are intelligent and hard-working. They are bold daring. They are always prepared to lay down their lives to protect the interests and honor of their country.

A good citizen is honest in word and deed. He is always truthful and hence, never avoids paying taxes. He is selfless and does not live for himself or his family but also for others. He seeks his good in the good of all. he helps those who need help. encourages those who need encouragement and Protects those who need protection.

A good citizen is never a fanatic and narrow-minded. He or she never allows himself or herself to be dominated by emotion and petty consideration. Religious tolerance and communal harmony are the articles of faith to an ideal citizen.

Such a person never loses temper whatever the provocation may be. good citizen always understands and uses the language of reason and follows the dictate of conscience.

A good citizen is every inch a patriot. Being loyal to the country, he or is prepared to sacrifice anything and everything for the motherland. Being broad-minded, such a citizen loves not only his own country but also other countries.

A good citizen is law-abiding and obeys the laws of the country sincerely. He or she never takes law in his or her hands. Rather people of kind extend their full co-operation to the government in maintaining law and order in the country. They are ever ready to put down crime and help the police in arresting criminals.

Ours is a democratic state. No country can ever function successfully if its citizen are not aware of their rights and responsibilities. Rights and duties always go together. They always exercise them intelligently.

Above all, a good citizen has the welfare of his country and his fellow citizens at heart. He or she does his best to further their interests. Such people render voluntary service to the city or the country in various capacities.
