The fact that New Year is usually the last day before returning to work, people try extra hard to enjoy the festivities. Often kids are instructed to report their experiences and present the same when the school reopens after the winter holidays.

Pollution

Good day to all!

Today, the world is facing many threats to its survival and one of the biggest menaces is pollution. Anthropogenic in nature, pollution has degraded our environment at a rapid rate, particularly in the last few centuries.

The environment is the catchword for the present century and there is a sound reason for that. We have ample evidence and data now to establish that our environment and ecology is at great risk currently. The price of rampant industrialization and modernization has left our environment staring at a possibility of irrecoverable damage.

One of the reasons behind such a dismal state is environmental pollution. The forms of environmental pollution are multifarious like air, aquatic, chemical, soil, etc.

However, the cumulative effect of all these different forms that can be termed as environmental pollution. The addition of various toxic and harmful materials to the natural state of the environment has rendered it near-complete destruction.

The various causes can be traced to its various kinds. The rapid growth of industries that release harmful gases, smoke, effluents, etc has largely contributed to it. The dumping of solid waste from houses as well as public facilities is another source of contaminants.

Vehicular emissions and effluent release from power plants are a major reservoir of various toxic materials. One of the major causes is also the increasing population which has exploded in the 21st century. This creates immense pressure on agriculture, manufacturing, mining, etc spheres to provide for increasing mouths and stomachs.

This, in turn, forces them to injudiciously exploit the available natural resources which are limited in nature. Hence, we get a vicious cycle of overuse of raw materials and massive piles of refuse or wastes. Along with these, an increase in noise levels and radiations (mobile telephony, optical fiber, etc.) has added to the environmental mess.

These problems are pressing and need immediate responses. The priority is to clean the environment and the best way is to plant more trees and plants which act as natural cleansers. The promotion of organic and natural methods of farming is also pertinent.

Safe disposal of waste after appropriate disinfection and treatment must be practiced. There should be a complete ban of microplastics with the alternative usage of natural materials like jute etc. Recycle and reuse of materials should be encouraged and incentivized.

Research in the field of cleaner fuels and sustainable technologies should be set as a national goal to leverage modern sciences for environmental protection and preservation. Legislation to support the above measures is also important.

However, we should start with education and awareness. This is imperative because even if we provide technology it still needs a change of mentality in terms of environment and its state. We need to inculcate a spirit of conservation and protection towards our environment in order to produce better outcomes.

Thank you for your patience and time. Have a great day!

Laughter is the best Medicine

Good Morning everyone, Today I am going to share my views on the topic “Laughter is the best medicine”.

Laughter draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. It strengthens our immune system, boosts mood, diminishes pain, and protects you from the damaging effects of stress.

It enhances our intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by our brain. It activates and relieves your stress response. It gives positive vibes and hopes for a new life.

It increases immunity and improves the resistance power to fight against diseases. It improves blood circulation in the human body. Laughter is good for the soul and the most powerful therapy. Its therapeutic effects work miracles in your body, mind, and soul.

Thank you.

AIDS

Good day to all

Today on 1st December, we are gathered to race the flag for one of the toughest fights that human beings are facing at the moment. It is a fight against a deadly disease and fight for respect and dignity of life.

One of the deadliest and most destructive ailments that have gripped human society is the pandemic known as AIDS. The disease itself is a retro-viral disease with its pathogen known as HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus.

In this condition, the pathogen is able to utilize the patient's body for its own survival and reproduction resulting in the patient's own body and immunity starts to falters (especially the white blood cells known as T-Cells). However, HIV does not mean AIDS always as many HIV patients can take help of medicines and stay HIV positive.

The threat of this disease can be traced by its difficult to identify symptoms. Most of the early symptoms are that of a common flu with joint pains, fever, period of chills and profuse sweating, glandular infection, tiredness and sudden weight loss etc.

After the disease has progressed, there are more severe symptoms like diarrhea etc. However, the most lethal is Tuberculosis which causes most number of HIV related deaths.

The biggest reason for the massive spread of the disease is due to its ease of transmission. Among its various modes of transmission, the most pertinent is through body fluids like blood. Many a time unscreened or not properly screened blood is transfused into patients which results in HIV transmission.

Multiple uses of syringes etc is another such mode. Another mode is through a pregnant mother into her unborn child. It becomes especially dangerous in second and later terms (for the fetus/child). The spread can also materialize post birth through breast milk. The third and probably the easiest one to avoid is through unprotected sexual activity.

The sad reality is that there exists no cure for AIDS. The progression can be slowed or stopped by anti retro-viral drugs and therapy. This can significantly enhance the quality and longevity of the patient. However, there is no absolute remedy for the disease.

Even more difficult than the physical destruction is the psychological blow that is dealt to anyone who is diagnosed with such a condition. This is down to misunderstanding and social stigma attached to HIV/AIDS. Herein lies the biggest threat of HIV and must be addressed and corrected to help give the people with the disease a fighting a chance.

Thank you for your patience and attention!
