Rome Was Not Built In A Day
A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Rome Was Not Built In A Day".
This is quite a famous idiom that all of us here must have heard at some point in our life. What exactly does this mean?
Wikipedia defines it as follows: "Rome wasn’t built in a day” is an adage attesting to the need for time to create great things. It is the usual English translation of a medieval French phrase, Rome ne fu[t] pas faite toute en un jour, from the collection Li Proverbe au Vilain, published around 1190."
Collins dictionary offers a more simple definition of the phrase: "said to mean that it takes a long time to do a job or task properly, and you should not rush it or expect to do it quickly."
Thus, great things take time. Don't rush what you want and let the process happen!
Thank you.
Robots
A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Robots".
Wikipedia defines the term "robot" to be "a machine" especially one programmable by a computer "capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically. A robot can be guided by an external control device, or the control may be embedded within."
Google meanwhile provides a simple definition as follows: "(especially in science fiction) a machine resembling a human being and able to replicate certain human movements and functions automatically."
Broadly, robots can be categorized into 6 divisions. They are autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated guided vehicles (AGVs), articulated robots, humanoids, robots, and hybrids.
Robots are one of science's greatest inventions and are of immense use to Man. Because of the element of fascination associated with them, several science fiction movies have been and are currently being made on robots and are gaining popularity. So is robotics as a subject of study.
Thank you.
Lion
Good morning to everyone in this room. I’d like to thank the principal, the teachers, and my dear friends for allowing me to speak to you today about the lion. The carnivorous lion is a member of the cat family. They roam freely in the forests and may be found in sub-Saharan Africa. The males’ abundant neck hair, known as a mane, makes it easy to distinguish between men and females.
Among the large cats, lions are the sole sociable species. They live in groups called “prides,” which are made up of a dominant male among several males, numerous females, and their pups. Lions hunt in packs and employ cunning tactics to corner and capture their prey. The pride’s male members only contribute when necessary; the females hunt mostly.
Lions have experienced habitat degradation and hunting, despite formerly being in great numbers. In the wild, lions may live up to 16 to 20 years, while in captivity they only reach a lifespan of roughly 10 years. The lion population is on the decline, but lion reserves in Africa, where some are reared for conservation, have shown promise. To stop the slaughter of these magnificent animals, we must act to stop deforestation and poaching. Thank you.
Solar System
A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Solar System".
Google defines the term "Solar System" to be "the collection of eight planets and their moons in orbit round the sun, together with smaller bodies in the form of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets. The planets of the solar system are (in order of distance from the sun) Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune."
Simply put, the solar system consists of the sun, the moons, and the planets that revolve around it. Wikipedia further provides the following information: "It (Solar System) formed 4.6 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of a giant interstellar molecular cloud."
Previously, the solar system used to have not 8 but 9 planets- the 9th being Pluto. However, on the 24th of August 2006, Pluto was officially removed from the list of planets recognized under the solar system because it is a "dwarf planet".
Thank you.
Social Media Ethics
A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Social Media Ethics".
LinkedIn aptly defines the term "Social Media Ethics" as follows: "Ethics, by definition, is the concept of what is good, bad, right and wrong. In social media, the right ethics equals the right perspective and the right thinking on how to leverage social media appropriately and how to engage people in the right manner."
Predominantly, social media ethics involve basic ethics such as maintaining one’s own and others’ dignity, respect and privacy. In an online platform full of virtual strangers, this becomes very important to follow to safeguard one's own self and also others.
Linkedin, Pinterest, and YouTube are viewed as the most ethical social media companies free of a lot of ethical issues prevalent (such as identity theft).
Thank you.
Social Media Boon or Bane
A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "Social Media Boon or Bane".
Whether or not social media is a boon or a bane, I believe, solely lies in the hands of the user. Like everything present online, social media has both pros and cons.
When does it become a bane? When its cons or negative implications show forth. Cyber crimes, perhaps, are the most glaring con of social media.
Use social media wisely thus.
Thank you.
Social Issues
A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "social issues".
Wikipedia defines the term "social issues" as follows: "A social issue is a problem that affects many people within a society. It is a group of common problems in present-day society and ones that many people strive to solve. It is often the consequence of factors extending beyond an individual’s control."
Finding problems to alleviate these social issues is of the essence. A country will only be fully developed when it’s free of these issues.
Thank you.
Soccer
A very good morning to one and all present here. Today, I will be giving a short speech on the topic of "soccer".
Wikipedia defines the term as follows: "Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel a ball around a rectangular field called a pitch."
Simply put, soccer is nothing but association football and is largely not different from regular football. Soccer, in fact, is the term used by the countries United States of America, Canada, and Australia to refer to football.
Interestingly, the word "soccer" is said to come from a slang abbreviation of the word "association", which British players of the day adapted as "assoc," "assoccer" and eventually soccer or soccer football!
Thank you.
