Do Schools Kill Creativity?

Creativity is what ultimately nurtures innovation. And innovation is the future. The big question is – are creativity and innovation inherited in each of us? The answer is yes.

Sir Ken Robinson, a creativity expert, in his Ted Talk claims that no child, even the most seemingly gifted one, is exceptional during the whole childhood. In his speech, Robinson claims that every child has an exceptional creative capacity. What happens is that it is the school and adults who squander kids’ potential and hold them back from discovering their inner geniuses.

The first argument Sir Ken Robinson makes in his speech is that the modern educational system does not encourage mistakes. Initially, kids are not at all afraid of being wrong. But many of them lose this capacity.

"If you are not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original" – Ken says. If you look back at all the biggest inventions of humanity, you can clearly see that all of those have been made through sequences of mistakes. Thus, by making learners frightened of making mistakes, we kill children's creativity.

In every educational system, there is a pretty common hierarchy of the subjects taught at school. The most important ones are considered to be math and languages. Then come humanities, whereas arts are typically at the very bottom of this hierarchy.

According to Robinson, when we start educating children, we typically focus on what’s in their heads, leaving the arts and creativity out of the equation. This way kids simply grow out of their creative capacities.

So, do schools really kill creativity? Apparently, the answer is yes. In schools, creativity and innovation are not encouraged. And there is no tolerance for mistakes. We also shove kids into limited frameworks of what is generally believed they will need in their future.

Finally, we tell kids who and what they can or cannot be way too often. And to ensure their successful future, as a teacher or parent, you can always change the way you think and give way to children’s creative urge.

Pigeon

The pigeon is a beautiful bird which is commonly found as a pet bird in the world. In other words, they are domestic birds. Pigeon is of many kinds and colors. It is found in almost every country of the world. Some are white, some are brown, and some are multi-colored with their beautiful fan-tail.

They build their nests with sticks. Pigeons eat pears, seeds, fruits, and insects etc. Generally, pigeons live in groups and move together in large groups with other pigeons. Pigeons are one of the most beautiful creations of God. People admire them for their beautiful and gentle nature.

Pigeons hardly disturb other birds or human beings. They are often kept as pets by many people. Millions of people in the world breed pigeons. The ones who breed them are called as Fanciers.

Pigeons are believed to be very intelligent birds. It is said that they can sense any kind of natural calamities like storms and earthquakes from far distant by their strong and extraordinary power of hearing. They can also identify themselves in the mirror.

Pigeons' visual memory is too sharp and powerful that it can save more than two hundred objects indefinitely. They have a strong power to identify the place where they stay. They can go up to miles of distance and return to their place easily. It is said that in ancient times, Kings and warriors used to train pigeons as their messengers who used to carry messages to far places.

There are many famous places where different kinds of pigeons are found. People visit those places and feed them anything to watch them closely. They look beautiful when they live, move and fly together in groups.

Last Day at School

Everyone loves school life and mostly the beautiful events which one experiences in a school. People develop a sense of emotional and social connection with the school. The school teaches us so many life lessons and values.

But, there comes a day when we all need to part away from our school and our friends. It is difficult for anyone to leave the school one day and forever. When I recall my last day at school, I become very emotional. It was a moment of painful separation.

That day it felt like we had a really short journey together that it passed so fast. Some of my friends became too emotional that tears started rolling down their cheeks. There was a small gathering arranged in our school hall.

Our juniors welcomed us to the hall which was decorated for us. Everyone gathered to bid us goodbye and to wish us for a better future. Our juniors gave speeches. Some of them sang and danced for us. They also asked us to give speeches. Some of my friends and I went to the stage and performed a group song. I also gave a speech on how we spent our school days there.

Our teachers came to us and started consoling us. They tried to inspire us with motivational words. Our headmaster praised us for being disciplined and honest in school. She also advised us to maintain the same wherever we go. All other teachers encouraged us and told us to do hard work in life because it would help us to be successful in life.

The day was a mixture of sadness and happiness. I felt happy I was going to a new school. I was sad because I was leaving my teachers and was parting from our dearest friends. It was a hard day for every one of us. This is how I experienced my last day at school.

French Revolution

A revolution is a political uprising which results into great social, political, economical and cultural changes in a nation state. French revolution is one such revolution which occurred in France. The revolution continued for ten long years.

French revolution was an outbreak led by the masses of France against the anti-people policies of the King. The revolution's aim was to end Kingship from the nation. It aimed at ending of a society's system which was based on privileges. Therefore, the primary intention was to settle a new system of governance which would ensure equality for all before the law.

French revolution like any other revolutions had some major causes behind its sudden release. There were political, social and economic causes which gave people a sense of resistance and rebellion to fight for their own rights.

The King, Louis XVI was unjust King particularly for the common people of the nation. His rule in France was in absolute manner. There were generally three sections of the society. The rights and privileges were mostly enjoyed by the people according to which class or section they belong to. The section which suffered the most was of farmer class.

Moreover, the first two sections were free of paying taxes to the state. But the third section was forced to pay a huge amount of taxes even though they were economically weak. Food crisis was another major cause for the revolution. The production of the food grains could not be maintained according to the rate of demand in the state.

Like any other political uprisings, French Revolution too had a few outcomes to be considered. The feudal system which was prevalent in the state got ended. Napoleon Bonaparte came into power and the nation had become a Republic France.

If I were a Bird

Everyone loves to dream big. Some dreams are possible to be made true. Some are based on a complete imagination. I always had a dream to fly high above the sky. I always had admired different kinds of beautiful birds who fly freely above us. They look so happy and carefree.

I feel if I were a bird, I could also fly above my house and above this place. I could fly above the buildings, mountains and hills and look down on people's houses and all through the city. My school would look pretty from high above. I could look at my friends who play on the school playground.

I wish to be a bird so that I could fly above the sky where the Planes fly. I would be able to wave my hands pointing the pilot. If I were a bird I could also fly to the top of the big mango tree nearby our fishery. I could also fly and dive into the nearby lake and take a cool shower.

My dream to be a bird got developed when I saw a group of birds talking to each other in their own language. I could not understand their language yet I felt good listening to the sounds of their speeches. I felt free when I say them flying like planes high above the sky away from everyone's reach.

Above all, being a bird I would be able to know about their ways of living together. I would be able to know the secret of living peacefully which is generally absent in human world. I would be able to know their language and the way a bird talk to another bird.
